As cPanel and WHMCS Prices Keep Rising, Host2Media Is Building a Different Future

The web hosting industry is entering another year of rising software licensing costs. cPanel, Plesk, and WHMCS, three widely used platforms belonging to the WebPros group, are introducing further price increases for 2027.
For hosting providers, these changes raise an important question: How can companies continue delivering reliable, secure, and premium hosting services without allowing software licensing costs to dictate their future?
At Host2Media, this question is shaping how we develop our own technology and plan for the years ahead.
The Growing Cost of Web Hosting Software
According to industry pricing reports, cPanel Premier licensing is scheduled to increase from $69.99 to $76.99 per month for 100 accounts, while additional account charges rise from $0.49 to $0.55.
WHMCS is also introducing higher licensing fees. Its Plus license increases from $34.95 to $39.99 per month, while its Business license for up to 1,000 active clients increases from $84.95 to $99.99.
These are published or reported retail licensing figures. Hosting providers may pay different rates depending on their agreements.
Software licensing is only one part of operating a hosting business. Servers, security software, monitoring, backups, infrastructure maintenance, and technical support all contribute to the cost of delivering a professional service.
And while licensing prices continue to rise, the expectations of hosting customers remain unchanged: their websites must be secure, reliable, accessible, and properly supported.
Why Host2Media Is Investing in H2MCS
Rather than relying entirely on third-party client management software, Host2Media has been developing H2MCS, its own hosting client management platform.
Our objective is to build a more integrated environment for managing hosting services, domains, billing, technical support, and other account operations.
H2MCS represents an important step toward greater technological independence. It allows Host2Media to develop its customer experience around the services we provide, rather than having every aspect of that experience determined by an external software vendor.
This is not simply about reducing licensing expenses.
It is about flexibility, continuity, and building technology that reflects how we work with our customers.
Beyond H2MCS: Exploring the Future of Hosting Control Panels
Client management software and hosting control panels serve different purposes.
H2MCS is focused on service management and the customer experience. cPanel, meanwhile, provides the server-level tools customers use for managing websites, email accounts, databases, files, and other hosting resources.
Host2Media continues to provide cPanel hosting services and recognizes the value of its established ecosystem.
At the same time, we are exploring ways to expand our independent hosting management capabilities and evaluate alternatives to traditional control-panel licensing.
Our long-term ambition is to provide customers with a modern, intuitive, and capable hosting management experience while maintaining the operational reliability they expect.
Any alternative must meet demanding requirements for security, account isolation, website compatibility, email management, backups, migration, and recovery.
Replacing established technology should never come at the expense of customer reliability or security.
This remains an ongoing development direction, not an announcement that cPanel is being discontinued or that a complete replacement is already available.
Premium Hosting Is About More Than a Control Panel
Host2Media has always approached hosting differently.
We are not trying to become the largest mass-market hosting provider. Our focus is on delivering personalized, professionally managed hosting services to businesses that value reliability, expertise, and direct technical support.
A hosting control panel is an important tool, but it is not the complete hosting service.
The real value comes from the infrastructure behind it, the decisions made to protect it, the maintenance performed over time, and the people responsible when something needs attention.
Our commitment is to preserve those qualities even as the technologies and economics of the hosting industry change.
Building for Independence Without Compromising Quality
The hosting industry will continue evolving. Licensing models will change, security requirements will become more demanding, and new technologies will reshape how websites and applications are deployed.
Host2Media intends to evolve with these changes.
H2MCS is part of that direction, alongside our ongoing investment in infrastructure, security, and a more personalized customer experience.
We believe hosting providers should have the freedom to innovate without compromising the services their customers depend on.
The future of Host2Media is not about offering less to compensate for rising costs. It is about building more independence so we can continue offering the quality our customers expect.
That is the direction we are working toward.
